Redding DUI Lawyer

Northern California Drunk Driving Defense Attorney

California has stiff penalties for driving under the influence (DUI). A first offense is a misdemeanor. However, if you cause an injury, or if it is your third offense, you can be charged with a felony, which means you will probably serve jail time, lose your driver’s license and pay steep fines. If you have been charged with DUI/DWI, you need a lawyer who knows how to fight the state’s case against you.

I am Joe Gazzigli, Attorney at Law. I have more than 35 years of experience defending people against DUI charges. My goal is to get the charges against you reduced or dismissed so that you can keep your license and move on with your life. Please call my Redding office at 530-241-6900.

Shasta County DUI Penalties

Under California law, refusing to take a blood or breath test results in a one-year license suspension. People age 21 or older who produce results of .08 percent blood alcohol content (BAC) or greater in a blood or breath test will face the following penalties:

  • First offense — automatic license suspension for four months
  • Second offense within 10 years — a one-year license suspension

A first DUI/DWI offense with a BAC of .15 percent or more requires you to have an ignition interlock device (IID) installed on your vehicle.

A Vigorous Defense

I will try to eliminate any prior DUI/DWI convictions so they cannot be used against you. I will also argue against IID installation.

Determining the validity of your arrest and the admissibility of the evidence is one of the most important parts of a DUI/DWI defense. Breathalyzer tests, blood tests and field sobriety tests must be examined carefully. If the tests have been administered incorrectly, I may be able to get the results suppressed or dismissed.

I am ready to represent you at Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) administrative hearings as well as at all criminal proceedings. To make an appointment, please call 530-241-6900 or send me an e-mail. I represent people in Shasta County and the surrounding region.
